Terms of Service
The terms that govern your use of Status.
Last updated: July 2026
The service
Status monitors HTTP, TCP, DNS, SSL, domain, ping and heartbeat targets you configure, confirms failures from multiple regions before opening an incident, and delivers alerts by email and webhook. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your organization's operations.
Your account
You're responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for the actions of the team members you invite, and for keeping credentials and API keys secure. Roles exist so you can limit what each team member can do — use them.
Acceptable use
- Only configure checks and webhook destinations for endpoints you're authorized to monitor and contact.
- Don't use Status to probe, scan, or attack infrastructure you don't own or have permission to test.
- Don't attempt to access other accounts' data or the platform's internal systems.
- Status pages and alerts are informational; they don't replace a certified incident-management process where one is required.
Billing
Plans are billed annually in advance. Trials convert only when you subscribe — nothing is charged automatically at trial end. Upgrades take effect immediately with a prorated charge for the remaining period. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period; if your usage exceeds the new plan's limits at that point, over-limit checks are paused (oldest first) and you're notified by email, and extra alert channels are disabled rather than deleted. If a trial expires without a subscription, checks are paused and monitoring data is retained for 30 days before being purged.
Availability & liability
We operate the platform with commercially reasonable care but provide it "as is" without warranty of uninterrupted availability. Multi-region confirmation reduces false alerts but cannot guarantee every outage is detected or every alert delivered — Status is a monitoring aid, not a guarantee of your service's uptime. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months preceding a claim.
Termination
You may cancel at any time; service continues to the end of the paid period. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms. On account closure, data is handled per the privacy policy.
Changes
We may update these terms; material changes are announced in advance through the dashboard or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
