Updated 2026-06-08

Signing up creates your account and starts your trial in a single step — there is no credit card required to start.

What you need

Just an email address. You can optionally name your account (for example "Acme Ops"); if you leave it blank, Status names it after your email.

What happens on signup

  • A new account is created on a 14-day trial with full Professional plan entitlements, so you can try higher-tier features (more regions, faster check intervals, webhook alerting) before deciding on a plan.
  • You (the signer-upper) become the account's Owner.
  • Status sends you a one-time login code by email instead of asking you to set a password up front.

Logging in

Status uses email one-time codes rather than passwords. Enter your email on the login screen, and a short code is emailed to you; enter the code to finish signing in.

During the trial

Everything works as it would on a paid Professional plan. Nothing is charged automatically when the trial ends — you choose when to subscribe. See Choosing a plan for what each plan includes and how billing works once you subscribe.

Next steps

  1. Add your first check — pick a check type and point it at something you want watched.
  2. Set up an alert channel — email or webhook — so you actually hear about incidents.
  3. Invite your team if others need access.
